Hard Working Class Heroes in a nutshell is 100 Bands / 3 Days / 6 Irish Venues amongst other events and I’ll be there, well at least on Saturday, the line up is .. well epic! So many acts to choose from. With a day pass for Saturday only costing 21 euro per person and a day filled with 30+ Free acts, exhibitions and the main artists Saturday 16th October 2009 is sure to be a great day and indeed night.
Subject to change I’m planning to check out many of the acts in Andrews Lane theatre, my line up includes;
7.45-8.15 – HIRED HANDS a folk band who like themselves to the likes of Dirty Projectors and Van Morrison. They only recently released Marie Antoinette’ and ‘O Child as a double A-side, to a sell-out crowd in Whelan’s.
8.30 – 9.00 – O EMPEROR an Indie Band who sound a bit like Mercury Rev and Radiohead. They have just recently finished their first album.
9.10 – 9.40 – ALI & THE DTS who if you listen hard enough sound similar to the Doors, well especially the lead singer! Influenced by the likes of Al Green and Otis Redding, i’m quite partial to their tune “Tiger Road”.
11.15 – 12.00 – ADEBISI SHANK, I cant wait to see these guys especially as they liken themselves to the fantastic Battles. The Battles rythm is definately there!
And I might even fit in – DISTRACTORS In the Acadamy 2 at 9.45 – 10.15, with songs such as Last Stand and Poet or Prophet I’m looking forward to see these guys.
Well I’ll update this post if MY line up changes, please feel free to post your thoughts on these bands and indeed any bands you saw or plan on seeing, oh and suggestions are always welcome!
